Sunshine and warmth, Ice Age re-examined

After the previous blog the weather has in fact determined to prove me wrong by making it sunny and very warm for January. I have been sitting in our garden with my man and supping milky coffee, the world is good. We have someone coming to buy our writing desk and then two trips to the decheterie, oh what rubbish we accumulate. Part of the group of situations which is causing the new Ice Age.

Global warming, a classic misnomer, what about the new Ice Age, ring any bells?

Why is it called global warming, when all I ever here is just how cold it’s getting. Why do the world powers and the scientific community insist on the problems the earth faces being those of of warming up, I guess everyone likes to feel warm, but this perhaps may be why no one does much about the crisis the world faces. Lets call it the new 21st century Ice Age and see what happens. Brrrrr!!! No one likes to feel cold.

Thankfully we had a night to use over the decision and have come to the conclusion that a beagle would not be a good idea. Too many reasons from an overnight think to elucidate here but there we have it

We went to Loches for the day to take in the sensation and smells of the market and we came back with fresh pasta and parmigiano and of all things a rendez-vous to pick up a Beagle puppy.

Found garageband at last. Now to compose something simple a start on the journey to compose. Have had it on my computer for years and now it is coming into its own

I am writing every day. In fact to my amazement I am writing lots everyday, useful stuff all the way, some prose, some technical, some conversational, all important. Getting all that stuff out of me, all those terrific ideas, an opera came to mind this morning with a video accompaniment of all the animals and birds we see everyday. Now the question is how do I write music for an opera?

Start now. That’s the answer and thanks to Garageband I I have started already

I haven’t been hearing music for years and now the sound is back…….

It is so amazing when you make a connection with someone online that is so powerful and so heart warming that it transcends everything. I found that with my man and now we are married and I still feel it with other people, good souls

Marriage 21102010

We did it yesterday. We got PACSed. What is that you ask? The closest thing to marriage in France for us queer boys. It is great and we have lovely titanium rings and a party on Sunday. Then November 2nd we got to Barcelona for 9 days. Yippee. Lots of Gaudi, Good Spanish food, The Ramblas (our hotel is there) and loads of smoochin and cuddlin etc….

Seeing the dream sequence in Gods and Monsters when Jimmy Whale muses on the humour in killing himself by overdose and having his German maid Hanna, screaming at his dead body, not a scenario he relished it seems, made me suddenly remember the sight of my small brown medicine bottle, the one which was part of my life for over 7 years back in the 1960′s. Its old worn out type written label, its powder encrusted ridges, its shiny black lid. The Pheno-barbitone, not that I knew then what it was. All this wrapped up with the dead ache of my epilepsy as it occasionally manifested itself for years afterwards, a dull reminder of the secret that my family kept from me for so long, the start of my mistrust of them. Not lies more like different stories ones which shaped the man I was to become until I knew better. I had quite forgotten those times, the horror of my uncle telling me aged sixteen that I had had epilepsy, my mother’s refusal to talk about it and my doctor’s cagey attitude when I asked about it before leaving Yorkshire forever and the sudden loss of all my medical records some short time later. Why did I remember that now? How can I be so dispassionate about it? Because it was all based on lies, I guess, and lies are opposite of truths, that is all.
